Tortoise Construction Joins NARI Pacific Northwest

Tortoise Construction LLC is now a member of NARI Pacific Northwest, the regional chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. You can find our listing in the NARI Pacific Northwest member directory, alongside other remodelers serving the Portland metro.
It’s the second trade association we’ve joined this fall. Last month we joined the Home Building Association of Greater Portland. HBA covers residential construction broadly. NARI focuses on remodeling, which is the work we do every day.
Why We Joined NARI
NARI Pacific Northwest has served the Portland-area remodeling community since 1952. Members go through an application process and commit to the NARI Code of Ethics, which covers how a remodeler deals with homeowners, subcontractors and the public.
“Remodeling is one of the biggest investments most homeowners will ever make, and it deserves the same discipline you’d expect from any major financial decision,” said Mike Jeske, CEO of Tortoise Construction. “I brought that systems mindset from IT into this business. For us, joining NARI Pacific Northwest means standing alongside other local contractors who hold themselves to that same standard, and it’s a responsibility our clients expect us to take seriously with their homes and their equity.”
A homeowner shouldn’t have to take a contractor’s word for it. An outside directory with its own standards gives them one more way to check.
What It Means for Your Project
Nothing about how we run a job changes. Mike Jeske still manages every project personally. Every remodel still goes through our five-step pre-construction process before anyone swings a hammer, and that planning is what lets us back each job with our No Change Order Guarantee.
What NARI adds is a connection to the wider remodeling industry around Portland: trade partners, continuing education and a chapter of remodelers who hold each other to a published standard.
Our NARI listing covers the kinds of projects we take on most often:
- Kitchen remodels
- Basement finishing and remodels
- Whole-house remodels
- Home additions and ADUs
How to Check Any Remodeler Before You Hire
Whoever you end up hiring, a few minutes of checking up front is worth it. Look the contractor up on the Oregon Construction Contractors Board license search and confirm the license is active. Then see whether they belong to a trade group like NARI or HBA that publishes its standards.
Our numbers, so you can check us too: Oregon CCB #214445 and Washington L&I #TortoCL740KF.
